Organic agriculture increases in Bavaria, 18.000 hectares more farming land

The German Federal Land Bavaria strengthens its top position in organic agriculture.
A record growth in organic agriculture in Bavaria. The top position of the German Federal Land is strengthened again, told the Bavarian Ministry for agriculture. In 2008 over 600 farmers with about 18.000 hectares changed from conventional to organic production, so the information of Agriculture Ministry. The number of farms grew to 5.800, they are working on circa 170.000 hectare with organic methods. 30 % of all German organic farms are in Bavaria. More than half of the organic milk produced in Germany comes from Bavaria. Bavaria has the first place in processing and treatment of organic food as well: The number of the companies grew in the last year 14 % to 2.500. Improved financial promotion in the last year was the reason for the increasing interest for organic agriculture, so the Ministry.
